Battle[]

The time was an era when Sun Ce was in control of the Sun family. Determined to put a stop to the Shanyue invasions, Sun Ce led a military campaign against them, leaving his young and inexperienced brother Sun Quan in command of Xuan Castle, a major stronghold in Yang Province. The earth trembled as a massive army marched on Xuan Castle, and the Wu force there was frightened. Fortunately, Sun Ce had taken safety precautions in leaving Zhou Tai, a veteran commander, behind to help Sun Quan. With only a small contingent of troops, the castle defenses were struggling. Zhou Tai and Sun Quan were informed, and they prepared to counterattack. Zhou Tai was sent to defend the supply depot; Sun Ce's army could not fight on an empty stomach. With their foodstuffs secure, Zhou Tai and Sun Quan headed to defend the armory from the Shanyue. Just then, Guo Jia of Cao Cao's forces arrived to attack Xuan Castle, believing this to be the perfect opportunity to seize Yang Province. To make matters worse, the Shanyue sent a fire attack unit to burn Sun Ce's provisions. Again, Zhou Tai was on the move. He slew the task unit force and prevented the supplies from being razed and then focused on defending the armory. He defeated the enemies there, and shortly after, Sun Ce returned after a few days of fighting the Shanyue. Xiahou Yuan of Cao Cao's army came to aid Guo Jia, and they advanced on Sun Ce's main camp. Sun Ce defeated them all with his reinforcements, and the Wu army went on the offensive. Zhou Tai slew the Shanyue commander, Chief Shanyue, but was slashed across the eye. In honor of his services, Sun Quan gave him a large banquet as a sign of gratitude for his wounds in his service.
