Zhou Cang was a Shu general.

Biography[]

Zhou Cang was a strong warrior with a dark face and a wiry beard. He originally took part in the Yellow Turban Rebellion, during which he met Guan Yu who impressed him due to his courage and honor. Though he wished to follow Guan Yu, Yu declined as he was transporting Liu Bei’s family. Zhou Chang became an independent renegade and moved on to Mt. Woniu with another former yellow turban rebel, Pei Yuanshao, where he earned a reputation for his strength and skill. When he again encountered Guan Yu, this time on a mountain road, he abandoned his past and swore his allegiance. Zhou Cang became a staple character at Guan Yu’s side and was even appointed the responsibility of carrying his Green Sabre. His skill as a boatman would later be vital to Guan Yu in the flooding of Fan Castle and he even managed to capture the fearsome warrior Pang De during the attack. After Guan Yu died Wu marched upon his location and displayed his head. Upon seeing it Wang Fu cast himself from the castle walls and Zhou Cang took his life with his own hands, slitting his throat.
