Biography[]

Xiao Qiao was the beautiful daughter of Qiao Xuan, and was taken hostage by Dong Zhuo following the death of her father along with her older sister, Da Qiao. In AD 189, two dashing young men named Sun Ce and Zhou Yu set off to rescue the young girls from Dong Zhuo's clutches. They did so successfully, and Xiao Qiao married Zhou Yu while her sister married Sun Ce. In AD 208, Xiao Qiao was allegedly found attractive by Cao Cao, and, allegedly, he wanted to take her. Zhuge Liang used the rumor to convince Zhou Yu to declare war on Cao Cao in alliance with Shu. During the battle at Chibi later that year, Xiao Qiao secretly headed to Cao Cao to have a tea party with him to distract him from the battle. She poisoned the tea, and Cao Cao's medic Hua Tuo was not there to help him. She then headed to defend Zhuge Liang as he began the ceremony to pray for the southeast winds to blow to spread the flames of the fire ships that they had sent to ram the Wei fleet. After her husband died in AD 211, she became lonely and did not remarry. Xiao Qiao and Zhou Yu's first son Zhou Pingan was born in AD 208, then Zhou Xun and Zhou Yin. In AD 228, she fought at Shiting in Lu Xun's campaign north.
